Scientists discover Wally! Updated!

An interGalactic transmission from your Star correspondant, Tank O'Saurus!

If you're Sirius about astronomy then there are a few things you know, like the dog star. Well now there's a new dog in space. Not me, but Wally!

Of course we all know Wally's a black hole when it comes to food
And like many black holes, he's formed a whole galaxy! Nasa has just realized that this galaxy is Wally , the Corgadorian Grey. Click on the Press release to read it more easily.

Special Props to Nanook for coming up with that fabulous name, Corgadorian Gray! For those of you who don't know, Wally is part Corgi, part Labrador. Hence, he's a Corgador. Nanook, being clever and unimaginably literate, called him a Corgadorian Gray. NASA isn't as fabulous at names, as you can tell. Zwicky 18 may score high in scrabble, but it certainly doesn't flow flittingly from the tongue. Maybe they'll rename it 'Wallaxy 1'. And if Wally wants to be alone, he can build 'Battlestar Wallactica'. Can you grow Wallymellon with hydroponics?

For all you sky gazers, Here's a picture that will help you find Wallaxy 1. Click on it for a legible version. For you southern hemisphere dloggers, you're just out of luck. It's Wally's galaxy and he put it where he can see it. You'll have to come visit one of us up over types. For you astronomers, it's R.A. 09h 34m 1s.90 Dec. +55° 14' 26 ".00.

It's 4,000 or so light years across and 60 million light-years away, so don't expect to get back by dinner if you're planning a trip. Except, of course, if you're flying Aire Ruby or taking Stanley's magic bus. I'm sure they'll be leading tours soon, with plenty of snackies for the journey. Here's more quotes from the site that let us know this is truly Wally in the Skies with Diamonds:

"it is certainly developmentally challenged and unique in the nearby universe," said astronomer Alessandra Aloisi from the Space Telescope Science Institute and the European Space Agency in Baltimore, Md., who led the new study."

Haroo! 'Developmentally challenged!' 'Unique'...

"more distant than previously believed. ... this is still in our own backyard"

Distant... He wants to be aloooone... But always in the backyard

"it is forming so many new stars right now"

So there you have it. Wally is heavenly!

Dudes! I just realized I forgot your interview questions! Yeesh! Well, if you're still up for an interview, here you go!

1) I understand you have JOBS! Please tell me about your jobs and, most importantly, when you get home from a hard day at work, are your apes waiting for you with a muttini and a footrub?
2) How did you get your names? Do you have any nicknames for each other?
3) I understand you guys are picky eaters. What is wrong with you? I mean, what kind of foodables do you like to eat/use to disguise your kibble? How much do dogs your size eat anyway? (And, also, if I ate that much do you think I would grow to Newf size?)
4) How did your peoples decide they wanted Newfs? Do you think anyone can have just one?
5) I know you live near the Republic of Gooberstan. Do you have any juicy gossip about StanMan?

That's the craziest thing ever. Also, I am a genius for inventing Corgadorian Grey.

Hey guys,

My question was inspired by your previous post. If you have business cards you must have a job, right?

I have an important job which is protecting my house from threats real and imagined. I am also the official food taster. And yet, I get no business card. Nor do I get my feet rubbed.

Nanook! Sorry, buddy! Without your wit and literary prowess this post wouldn't even exist! You're still our favorite and you were the one who inspired us to blog in the first place. No one could ever take your place in our hearts.

M&M - We posted the sky map to make it easier. But just so you know, it took the Hubble telescope, with an eye the size of a school bus, 15 hours to gather the light to make that picture. So look with your inner eye...

I've always known wally was out of this world. Of course, once retrofitted with the latest space travel amenities, we will be traveling to the Wallaxy on Aire Ruby.

Lots of Licks, Rub

I missed your poll. I am so sorry. I so love to have my own polls so it is good to vote in other dogpolls. Anyway I would still have voted for 2.

Now, I think all this talk of Wally having his own galaxy is giving him an even bigger head than normal.

Don't encourage the guy.

Pippa - Isn't there a Pippastar somewhere?
